Dennis Almeida
Dennis Almeida and his wife, Suzanne, reside in Little Compton, Rhode Island, while their daughter, Julian, lives overseas. His connection to the military began with his father’s 30-year service in the U.S. Navy, which led to his birth at Newport Naval Hospital. Inspired by his father’s dedication, Dennis volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps after high school and served a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.
For 30 years, Dennis was deeply involved in his family business, established in 1957. He worked his way up from sweeping floors to managing purchases and sales of electrical supplies, ultimately serving as general manager. This experience instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for leadership and service.
Education has played a pivotal role in Dennis’s life. He earned a B.A. from the University of Hawaii and an M.A. in political science from URI before furthering his academic career with an M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He applied this knowledge extensively as an educator in Fall River public schools, where he was committed to fostering learning and mentorship.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Dennis has remained dedicated to community service. Since the early 1990s, he has actively contributed to the Veterans Association of Bristol County, serving in various capacities to support and advocate for fellow veterans.
